This day was made possible by the support of some of Maine’s forerunning senior advocates. John Nale, an Elder Law attorney, and the volunteer President of the Maine Association of the Area Agencies on Aging made a great case as to why setting aside a special day in appreciation of our seniors is important. Written testimony, with significant statistics from Dr. Len Kaye was presented on behalf of the University of Maine, Center on Aging. Several people spoke, and Penobscot Shores and AARP of Maine submitted letters of support for An Act to Establish Maine Seniors Day.
